 Report an incident

Information or network security incidents should be reported immediately to: information.security@yale.edu.

Report lost or stolen electronic media or a computing device

Computer/information intrusion

If you suspect that someone has broken into your computer, please disconnect it from the network and contact the Information Security Office immediately. We will investigate the incident and help you recover your system. (See section on reporting computer intrusions below).

 

Reporting computer intrusions

When reporting a possible intrusion, it is helpful if you can provide us with the following information:

  • A description of the problem (what happened and when)
  • The computers that were affected (names and IP addresses)
  • The actions that have been taken to address this incident
  • Any other information or log files that you have

Recovering from an intrusion

Recovering from an intrusion can be a difficult and time consuming process. However, it is important to perform a thorough recovery to prevent further abuse of your system. CERT offers intrusion recovery guidelines and checklists that will help you recover from a computer intrusion.
